summertime…

lots of changes going on around the shop lately, seeing as how i’ve neglected to update the website in the last couple of months here is some pics of what we’ve been doing,
we’ve been fortunate to find a supplier for 7075 plate that has been very helpful in getting us what we need when we need it. they are also budding artist’s:
this is a new handlebar stem design from sequence fab. 3pc, 2 bolts, and a wedge that clamps the steer tube and handle bar. we made this one from a solid piece then cut it apart at the part lines.
another sketchy voyage on the ramp, this time the roadster was moving out.
note the future superrat shop truck in the background.
this is what has been consuming all of our time and energy, we’re adding a new machining center so that means re-wiring! fredonia dave to the rescue, he has been such a huge help and a great supporter of the shop i would once again like to thank him for everything. had he been here one more day the supply of hamm’s in kansas city would’ve been in trouble…
after a trip to the electrical supply house,
previous setup,
some rearranging,
delivery day 8am
though it was close the haggard hauling guys are amazing, incidentally one of the guys had delivered the first mill, the tm-1, down to the cave. he too prefers fresh air…
at 11am the haas tech was there, i connected the air and power and unpackaged the accessories while he did the final connections.
we then filled the coolant sump, put the retention knobs on the toolholders, indicated the new vises in and set up the first part to be run.
we ran the 2 hour spindle break-in program, picked up a flash drive and by 9pm i was making chips! although it took me half an hour to figure out how to get the program off the usb flash drive and onto the machine…

Congrats on the new faster machine.
Seems like a nice short time from delivery to making parts! Awesome!

Nice mill, we have the exact same haas at my work, we dont use it for anything cool though, just milling out orthotic shells.
