How do the”the color of the stem caps and stem bodies vary?” Are they chipped? If I order one will the cap be black and the body blue?

they are 52mm length, rise (which i’m assuming is measured from the side of the stem that is down to the center of the handlebar clamp?) clamps up it’s .914″(23mm) and clamps down it’s .585(15mm)

which brings up and interesting idea that kyle and i talked about, creating a list of these dimensions for various stems on the market. showing the rise and length? one of these days we’ll get one together.

the variance is in the shade of color. for instance the shade of the body is slightly different than the shade of the caps. they will both be blue(or red or puple or green). they are not chipped. once it’s on your bike it’s hard to tell though.

I got a purple one and the difference in color from caps to body is barely noticable. On the bike I have a hard time seeing any difference.

I would just like to say that I am supremely impressed with not only the product which I received, but the customer support that I got as well. The red stem is amazing, and I cannot tell the difference between the cap colors at all. I like the fact that it does not have the FBM logo all over it as well, and gives the stem a cleaner look. The other great thing is that I ordered it on sunday night, and received it wednesday morning. (That is Kansas city to Boston) Thank you very much Phill and Super Rat. Great product!

    i appreciate the feedback, i believe once it’s on a bike it’s virtually unnoticeable…

i hope everyone is enjoying spring!

    Hello
I was wondering if you would tell me how high these stems stack – ie how much steerer tube they require.

Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter.

well they are 1.500″ tall and i would say that you would need a minimum of 1.375″ (35mm) of steer tube to be safe. –phil

Hmm so,is there some kind of gyro plate for the stem that will go in the slot between the pinch bolts?

or is there a stem specific gyro plate at all for this stem?

fbm and solid both have the plate made specifically for these but i’ve seen people run a regular plate in there as well. you just need plenty of cable travel. you may have to be a little creative to get it to work. –phil

Are these still available? Also, what’s the weight? I tried searching for specs, but found nothing.
