About
HISTORY
The name Super Rat Machine Works comes from an air cleaner that hung on the wall of the garage my brother and I grew up in. It was from a Hodaka motorcycle; the model was the Super Rat and was the first motorcycle my father had. This was before my brother or I were born but helped create an environment of problem solving and mechanical exploration that would be a staple in our formative years. For many years after the motorcycle was gone the air cleaner hung on the wall, overlooking the numerous projects that the fairly well equipped home shop encouraged us to engage in, for better or for worse. Now that air cleaner hangs in my shop, in memory of our father and all that we were able to learn in the garage.
PHILOSOPHY
Super Rat Machine Works is a “mom and pop shop” kind of machine shop that is dedicated to creating products that balance function and aesthetics. Drawing on 8 years of experience in job shops and a lifetime of tinkering, resulting in creative solutions for manufacturing needs. Our hope is to bridge the gap between ideas and a tangible product.
THE SHOP
Super Rat Machine Works is located in Kansas City, Kansas in the Fairfax Distirct. Phil Wasson serves as chief product designer, machinist and owner. Courtney Wasson runs the business side of Super Rat, and is in charge of customer relations and the office.
